Hello everyone,
I apologize if you have already received this message before but it has come to my attention that about 1/3 of the people whom have registered for MUD2024 might not have received notice that the social programs have been announced and we are accepting bookings.
Book soon as TRIUMF tour has a maximum number of people.

Thursday October 3rd, 2024

TRIUMF Tour

At noon on Thursday October 3rd, 2024, we have scheduled a tour of the TRIUMF, Canada's particle accelerator Centre

TRIUMF is Canada’s particle accelerator Centre. From the hunt for the smallest particles in the universe to the development of new technologies, including next-generation batteries and medical isotopes, TRIUMF is pushing the frontiers in research to advance science, medicine, and industry.

Bus transportation will leave the hotel at noon and will return to the hotel by 4pm. Cost of the tour, including transportation, is $50 CND or approximately $36 USD.
We need a minimum of participants for the event. Please sign up as soon as you can so we know how many people want to participate. If by September 20th we run short of registrations for this event, we will have to cancel the event and provide you a full refund.

Social Mixer

At 4:30 PM on October 3 2024, we have arranged a Buffet Dinner at the Convention Centre. The registration table will also be open to allow you to check in and get your conference credentials. There will be a cash bar if you would like to indulge in an adult beverage.

Tickets for this event as $50 CND or approximately $36 USD.

We need a minimum of participants for the buffet. Please sign up as soon as you can so we know how many people want to participate. If by September 20th we run short of registrations for this event, we will have to cancel the event and provide you a full refund.

Friday October 4th, 2024

Vancouver City Highlights Tour

At 9:00am on Friday October 4th, 2024, we have scheduled a guided Vancouver City "Highlights" Tour for guests of the conference. There will be stops along the tour to allow people to purchase food or use the facilities. There will also be an extended stop at Granville Island where people can wander the public market and purchase lunch at the many vendors located there. Tour highlights include: Stanley Park Totem Poles, Lion's Gate Lookout, Chinatown, Gastown, Canada Place, Jack Poole Plaza (2010 Olympic Cauldron), Robson Street, English Bay, Queen Elizabeth Park (including the Bloedel Conservatory) and, as mentioned, Granville Island.

The guided tour bus will leave our hotel at 9:00am and return to the hotel at approximately 4:00pm. Cost of the tour is $140 CND or approximately $102 USD.

Saturday October 5th, 2024

Steveston Village Tour

At 11:00am on Saturday October 5th, 2024, we have scheduled a trip to historic Steveston Village located about 25 minutes from our hotel. Steveston Village is perfect for strolling around looking at the many shops or taking the free tours of historic sites. Highlights include: Garry Point Park, Britannia Shipyards, Gulf of Georgia Cannery, Steveston Museum, Steveston Railway Tram and the London Farms Museum. Bus transportation will leave our hotel at 11:00am and return by 3:00pm. Cost of the transportation is $50 CND or approximately $36 USD.

Whale Watching Option

For the more adventurous, whale watching is available from Steveston Village.

All whale watching boats leave at noon from Steveston and return 3 to 4.5 hours later depending on where the whales are located that day. Those people who decide to go whale watching will likely miss the returning scheduled transport but we will coordinate with those participants to transport them back to the hotel. Admission is about $175 CND or $128 USD for adults, for ages 60+, admission is $155 CND or $113 USD.

Please be aware you will need to book a reservation directly to be sure you have a seat on this popular attraction. Please let us know in advance if you plan to go whale watching so we can make sure we get you to and back from the dock on time.
